At Igati Community, we are driven by the spirit of social entrepreneurship to bring about meaningful social and economic transformation, particularly in alleviating poverty. Our multifaceted approach encompasses various initiatives aimed at empowering individuals and communities to thrive.
Directorate of Creativity and Innovation
Led by our dedicated Directorate of Creativity and Innovation, Igati fosters an environment that encourages fresh ideas and innovative solutions. Through continuous brainstorming sessions, research, and collaboration, we strive to develop creative approaches to address complex social and economic challenges. our first poverty alleviation program is Igati agribiz Cluster models designed in 2023 for Meru County-Kenya
Research and Education
Through our Memorandum of understanding and patnership with Meru University of Science and Technology and other stakeholders, we collaborate through seminars, conferences, workshops and jointly to promote research and education as powerful tools for empowerment. These platforms provide opportunities for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and skill development, equipping individuals with the tools they need to succeed as entrepreneurs and community leaders.
Membership Recruitment and Mentorship
We actively recruit members who share our vision and values to establish agricultural clusters, value chains and cooperative societies welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences into the Igati community. Through mentorship programs, we provide guidance and support to aspiring social entrepreneurs, helping them navigate the challenges of starting and growing their social enterprises.
Organizing Communities into Clusters
To maximize impact, we organize communities into clusters based on shared interests and goals. These clusters serve as hubs for innovation, collaboration, resource sharing, and collective action, fostering a sense of unity and collective responsibility.
Connecting Communities to Development Agencies
We facilitate connections between communities and development agencies to access resources, funding, and technical assistance. By forging partnerships and leveraging external support, we enhance the capacity of communities to implement sustainable development projects.
Establishing Branded Value Chains
One of our key initiatives is the establishment of branded value chains for communities. By adding value to local products, building a strong igati community brand, and creating efficient distribution channels, we enhance market access and increase income opportunities for community members.
