As I sit down to reflect on the journey of the Igati Mission, I am reminded of a profound truth spoken by Christ Jesus in Matthew 5:13-19—that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. This powerful scripture resonates deeply with the vision I hold for Igati. In Kimeru, “Igati” means salt, symbolizing preservation, influence, and transformation. It is on this foundation of being “salt” that the Igati Mission was born—a movement driven by creativity, innovation, and a passion for the social and economic transformation of communities.
A Divine Call to Serve
My journey as a missionary of social entrepreneurship began in the most unexpected place—my former club, Black Jungle. It was in this setting that I received a divine call from Christ Jesus to step away from the familiar and embark on a mission to serve humanity. The club, which had been a place of entertainment, suddenly became the birthplace of my calling to serve others through the gifts and talents bestowed upon me by my Father in heaven.
I realized that my mission was not confined to entertainment, but was far greater—it was to build a community, grounded in the principles of social entrepreneurship, where people could thrive, grow, and work together to transform their lives and the lives of others. This was the beginning of the Igati Mission, a movement that I believe is destined to spark a wave of social change, not just in Meru County, but across the globe.
The Daunting Task of Social Entrepreneurship
Social entrepreneurship is not an easy task. It requires vision, discipline, and most importantly, preparation. As I stepped into this new journey, I knew that success could only come through a deep understanding of the mission and its purpose.
1. Understanding the Mission: Social entrepreneurship, at its core, is about using innovative and sustainable solutions to solve the pressing challenges that our communities face. For me, the mission was clear—empower communities through agriculture, beekeeping, and value addition, providing a pathway for economic independence. The One Million Bee Hives Project for Meru County was born out of this understanding—a vision to create jobs, improve food security, and promote environmental conservation.
2. Communicating the Mission: A vision can only come to life when it is shared. From the very beginning, I committed myself to communicating this mission to others—sharing the potential of what we could achieve together. The Igati Mission is not about one individual; it is about a community coming together, driven by the same passion for transformation.
3. Building the Mission with the Community: The Igati Mission has grown into what it is today because of the strength of the community behind it. It is a testament to the power of collective effort and hard work. Together, we are building a legacy that will not only benefit this generation but also future generations. We are cultivating an environment of innovation, creativity, and economic empowerment.
An Invitation to Young People: Start Your Journey Early
To the young people reading this, I want you to know that your journey does not begin tomorrow—it begins today. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s never too early to start building the life you want. Igati is a testament to what can be achieved when you dedicate yourself to a vision, no matter how daunting it may seem at first.
As the founder of Igati, I encourage you to embrace the principles of creativity, hard work, and passion for community service. Follow the path of social entrepreneurship, not for personal gain, but for the transformation of the world around you. Your gifts, no matter how small they may seem, have the power to change lives—just as mine have through the grace of Christ Jesus.
The Road Ahead
The road ahead is long, but it is filled with hope and opportunity. The Igati Mission will continue to grow, and I believe that through the support of the community and those who share in this vision, we will see social and economic transformation spread like wildfire. From the One Million Bee Hives Project to the many other initiatives in the pipeline, our work is just beginning.
To the young, the old, and everyone in between—I invite you to join me in this mission. Let us be the salt and light that Christ Jesus calls us to be. Let us build together, transform together, and inspire future generations to follow the path of social entrepreneurship for the good of all humanity.
In Closing: I am deeply grateful for this journey, and I am confident that through Christ Jesus, we will continue to witness the fruits of our labor. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the world, and I invite you to walk this path with me. The Igati Mission is more than just a movement—it is a calling to be the salt of the earth.
